The Harz was one of Europe's largest mining regions for several hundred years. In the Upper Harz, many ponds, ditches, and waterways belong to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mining Mine Rammelsberg, Old Town of Goslar, and Upper Harz Water Management System.

This e-bike route goes through the beautiful landscape around the Oderteich near Sankt Andreasberg. It will take you to world-famous sights from the World Heritage Site.

A lot of water was needed in the mines in the Harz. On your tour, you will see how the landscape has changed because of this.

The route is 30 kilometers long. The starting point is the parking lot at the Grube Samson in Sankt Andreasberg.

You ride almost exclusively on forest roads. In some places, the path leads over narrow forest trails and thick roots. The route takes approximately 3 to 4 hours.

The route is varied and very well suited for e-bikes.

Directions

The route starts in Sankt Andreasberg. From there it continues to the Rehberger Graben. Then you ride past the Oderteich – the largest pond in the Upper Harz water management system. The route then goes over the Achtermannshöhe past the Hahnenkleeklippen. There you have a wonderful view of the Rehberg and the Oder. Then it goes back to Sankt Andreasberg.

Directions & Parking facilities

There is a free hiking parking lot at the Grube Samson.

Near the Grube Samson, HarzBus lines 820 and 840 stop at the St. Andreasberg - Schulstraße stop.
