Directions

This is a moderate approximately 9 km long hike during which 2 stamp locations of the Harz Hiking Badge are visited. Starting at the Museum in Wieda, then onto the hiking trail in Kastental, the Wieda Ironworks Trail. The Ironworks Trail was historically used by horse-drawn wagons to transport red iron ore mined in the Wieda and Zorge mining districts to the blast furnaces in the valley. The Ironworks Trail is marked with 33B and a blue cross and leads to Helenenruh (stamp 160). After that, you follow the Kaiserweg, marked with a crown. The Kaiserweg (Harz) is a thematic long-distance hiking trail with a total length of about 110 km that first crosses the Harz and then also the Kyffhäuser mountains. From Goslar or Bad Harzburg on the northern edge of the Harz, it leads over the Harz to Walkenried in the south; then on to Nordhausen and finally to Tilleda at the Kyffhäuser. The path then leads to Bremer Klippe. From Bremer Klippe, there is a nice view of the elongated spa town of Wieda and Ravensberg near Bad Sachsa. It continues over part of the Harz Mountain Hut Trail past Füllenberg to Kreuztalsklippe (stamp 162). Once the third and last stamp of today's route is recorded in the hiking pass, the descent begins via Cuerskopfweg and then along the main road back to the starting point.
