This easy hike leads past the fishing ponds at Blumenberg over the Sachsenburg ruins and the Priorteich (a beautiful natural outdoor pool in summer) over Geiersberg in Walkenried to the Cistercian Museum Monastery Walkenried.

Directions
This easy approx. 5.5 km hike starts from the parking lot at Friedwald Bad Sachsa. First, you cross the L604 to Blumenberg. Here are the fishing ponds in Bad Sachsa. A really beautiful and quiet landscape awaits you here, so the hike starts off relaxed. From here, continue to the Sachsenburg ruins. Then the path leads through the South Harz deciduous forests to the natural outdoor pool Priorteich. If you like, you can of course briefly pause the hike here and then continue refreshed towards Walkenried. You then pass Geiersberg and finally arrive at the Cistercian Museum Monastery Walkenried, the destination of the hike.

Directions & Parking facilities
At the intersection of Bahnhofsstr./Walkenrieder Str. towards Walkenried and after about 800 m turn left, or from Wieda/Walkenried turn right before the town entrance onto the parking lot at Friedwald.

Arrival is possible by train from Nordhausen or Göttingen and by bus lines 470, 471, and 472 to Bahnhofstraße.

There are no dining options along the way, so be sure to pack enough food and drinks. Only at the monastery can you stop at the monastery café.
