One of the most important Art Nouveau buildings in Germany

Sanitary Councillor Dr. med. et phil. Friedrich Barner was one of the first doctors to turn to psychotherapy in order to treat "body and soul" holistically. At the same time, he recognised how important the scenic location and the architectural ambience could be for the healing process.

In 1912, he commissioned the Darmstadt Art Nouveau architect Albin Müller to design the new sanatorium building. Today, the house is one of the most important preserved Art Nouveau buildings in Germany.

From 8 April 2023, guided tours of the Dr. Barner Art Nouveau Sanatorium in Braunlage will take place every Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

In addition, from 8 April 2023, aclassical concert will take place every Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in the music hall of the sanatorium.
