The 40-kilometer route for e-bikes runs from Clausthal-Zellerfeld to the western edge of the Harz at Gittelde.
The challenging cycling path runs exactly over the Ernst-August tunnel – an old water drainage tunnel.
In the Upper Harz, about 92 kilometers of water drainage tunnels belong to the UNESCO World Heritage in the Harz. These are tunnels in a mine through which water can flow out of the mine.
The starting point is the parking lot at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Schacht II in Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
You cycle almost exclusively on forest roads. In some places, there are narrow forest paths and thick roots. The route takes about 4 to 5 hours.
The route is varied and very well suited for e-bikes.
