This stage starts in Osterode am Harz and leads through the mining and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld into the old town of Goslar, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The route leads from Osterode am Harz back into the mountainous Upper Harz. Along the Sösetalsperre reservoir, the route continues through Riefensbeek-Kamschlacken and then follows the Morgenbrodstaler Graben, which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Harz Water Management System. Graben systems, ponds, and waterways accompany the leisure cyclist to the mining towns Altenau and Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Following the traces of Upper Harz ore mining, not only the history of the miners but also fantastic views become tangible. After the mining town of Wildemann, the Little Tyrol of the Upper Harz, the route follows the Innerste cycle path through Lautenthal to the Innerste reservoir. From there, the places Langelsheim and Herzog-Juliushütte are passed without significant elevation changes before the route ends at the historic imperial palace in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Goslar.

Directions

We leave the half-timbered town of Osterode am Harz and keep right towards the Sösetalsperre reservoir, which we pass on its southern side. Shortly thereafter, we pass through the towns of Riefensbeek and Kamschlacken before turning into the valley of the Große Söse and gently ascending to the Morgenbrodshütte. Here is the stamp point 146 "Großes Wehr" of the Harzer Wandernadel at the shelter, suitable as a rest stop. The Großes Wehr is the start of the four-kilometer-long Morgenbrodstaler Graben, which is fed by the Große Söse and the Morgenbrodsbach. On the gravel Ifenweg, we keep above the Graben heading towards Harzhochstraße, which we follow for a short distance to the left. Here a detour to the Sperberhaier Dammhaus is worthwhile, which was used as a changing and prayer house during mining times and today is a popular excursion restaurant. We turn onto federal road 498 towards Altenau, shortly after which we immediately follow the unpaved path to the left on the other side of the road. We pass the Polstertaler pond and the western part of Altenau. The further route continues along an old railway track on an almost flat path to Clausthal-Zellerfeld. We cross the mining and university town in the Zellerfeld district. Here, between May and October on Thursdays from 6 p.m., the Upper Harz mountain farmers' market takes place, where many regional products and local handicrafts are sold. We follow Spiegelthaler Straße along the Waldweben campsite downhill through Spiegelthal to Wildemann, the Little Tyrol of the Upper Harz. In the town, we turn right onto Hindenburgstraße and after leaving the town, follow the Innerste cycle path to the right, which also runs along an old railway track. We enjoy cycling along the Innerste, which springs near Clausthal-Zellerfeld and flows into the Leine near Sarstedt after 95 kilometers. For about two kilometers, we pass through Lautenthal shortly before following the Innerste cycle path again, which leads us directly along the Innerste reservoir. Here a short detour to the dam wall is recommended, from where we have the best view of the water. We then continue through Langelsheim, cross the B6, and ride above the federal road along the Astfeldberg towards Herzog-Juliushütte. From there, we follow the Höhlenwagenweg above the railway line to Goslar, where we reach the imperial palace, the destination of our stage, via Bäringerstraße and Marktstraße.
