Approximately 340 kilometers of water trenches and water courses in the Upper Harz are part of the UNESCO World Heritage in the Harz. The bike route leads you along the dam ditch system in the Upper Harz. The trenches and water courses were built to supply the mines with water in earlier times.
During your bike ride, you will see: The water was collected in the source areas and then guided through the trenches to more distant locations.
Highlights of the route are the Sperberhaier Dam and the Wolfswarte viewpoint. Here you have a fantastic view.
The route is very varied and just right for e-bikes.

Take some time to relax in Altenau: Even the smallest of the Upper Harz mining towns offers worthwhile restaurants, museums, and parks.
Safety guidelines
You mostly ride on forest roads. In some places, it goes over narrow forest paths and thick roots.
Attention! The descent from the Wolfswarte is very steep. You have to be very careful here.
