Directions

The small circular route starts from the “Jahnstraße” car park on the paved hiking trail towards the forest stage. After a few steps, we stand at the game enclosure. It covers an area of about 2 hectares and provides a home for 20 fallow deer, red deer, and mouflon. The interest group of the Benneckenstein fire brigade support association lovingly cares for the wellbeing of the animals.

It continues along the game fence to the next junction where we turn left. After about 400 m, we reach the Ziegenkopf echo. Anyone wishing can try out the echo and enjoy the mountain panorama with the Brocken and Wurmberg.

At the next fork, we keep right and come directly to the grill and rest area. Turn around once more and let your gaze wander over Benneckenstein.

Now continue along the so-called forest clearing, parallel to the lower path. You will be accompanied again by a fantastic view of Benneckenstein and the mountain massif.

At the next junction, turn right and walk along the forest stage. The stage is the home of the annual nature theatre festival, which can be visited in August.

Once back at the game enclosure, it is only a few meters to the “Jahnstraße” car park.

We recommend normal hiking equipment and warming clothing if needed for icy temperatures.
