Directions

The winter hiking trail runs along the edge of Tanner Holz forest. After about 400 m, you have a fantastic view on the right side of Benneckenstein, wide meadows with horses, and the Harz narrow-gauge railway.

Further along the way, after about 300 m, you can enjoy a great view of Benneckenstein station and Kalles riding stables.

The path continues along the forest road to the "Lehmkuhlen" industrial area, and after another 900 m, you cross the railway tracks at Zollhäuserstraße.

After about 50 m, passing a residential house on the right, the path turns sharply right. You leave the cemetery entrance on your left and follow the path to Heinrich-Nettesheim-Weg, just before the next railway crossing. This leads hikers about 100 m along the railway tracks, and again you get a great view of the Benneckenstein district with its Harz narrow-gauge railway, horse paddocks, riding stables, and station. Passing two sports fields, you reach the Benneckenstein school, and before the gondola pond, keep to the right and continue on Brennereiweg towards the station.

At the station, a short detour to the Benneckenstein Tourist Information is possible before continuing right into Wernigeröder Straße. From there, you walk about 850 m along Wernigeröder Straße and return to your starting point.
