The route leads from the northern edge of the Harz up to the eastern areas of the High Harz.

The mountain route goes through the picturesque Ilsetal and the large Sandtal up to the crucifix and then steeply uphill to Scharfenstein. From there you get a very good view of the Eckertal dam. However, the highlight of the route is only reached at the Zeterklippen; until then, the ascent is steep. At the Zeterklippen, there are demanding trails. From there it goes downhill and past some cliffs and rocks back to Ilsenburg.
