Directions
The starting point is the St. Stephani Church in Osterwieck. Through a small alley, we reach Mittelstraße and continue onto Neukirchenstraße. After crossing the little river Ilse on the street "Vor dem Neuenkirchtor," we turn left onto a field path. We follow this path for a long time. For a short stretch, we follow the country road to Berßel, then turn right onto a field path just before the town entrance. Along the field path, we pass Berßel and at the end of the village meet the river Ilse again. Along the Ilse (parallel to the "Ilseradweg") we arrive at Wasserleben.
Through Wasserleben, we pass the old manor park and then come to the former monastery church. We continue through the town, along the Ilse toward Veckenstedt. Continuing on the "Alten Stadtweg," we walk in the direction of Charlottenlust. Here we have reached the highest point of our hike and enjoy a beautiful view of Wernigerode and the Harz mountains lying directly in front of us. Down the hill, we reach Wernigerode. In the center, there is the impressive town hall at the marketplace, where the hike ends.
