Directions

From the parking lot at the Spiegelsberge, go up the street to the right. From there, we reach the path where a cattle fountain stands. Lovingly called the "Fairy Tale Fountain" by the people of Halberstadt. We walk past it, straight ahead until the mausoleum. Along the way, we pass the Green Schröder. From there, we continue along the forest edge to an avenue that leads downhill to the Goldbach Valley. After that, we turn left onto the first path and reach the Soviet Honorary Cemetery. This is recognizable from afar by the large stone staircase. We then continue to follow the main path through the apple orchards. After about 0.5 km, we reach a fork where the apple orchard is to our right and the people's meadow is to our left. This is recognizable by a wooden railing that could have served as a connection point for cattle back then. From there, we go up a short path on the left and turn right on the next path. However, we do not walk long on this path, as we immediately turn left again on the next path.

It goes uphill to the Blankenburger Kopf. This is the highest elevation in the Spiegelsberge. There is a bench with a table there. From here, it continues on the same way to the Bismarck Tower. This was erected in March 1907 in honor of the first German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. To enter the tower, you can borrow a key against a deposit at the ticket booth of the animal park.

Then we continue straight along the avenue path, which takes us past the former Devil's Bridge and a bench to the Jahn meadow. Then we turn sharply left, go down the steps and reach the Eremitage. Here, our poet father Gleim often met with his friend Baron von Spiegel for philosophical conversations. We walk once directly through the Eremitage to admire it from all sides. Then we go back up the stairs to the main path, which we follow to the left. From there, we reach the Belvedere Tower. The observation tower was built around 1782 at the highest point of the park, the Heinrichshöhe. From this point, the hunting lodge opposite can already be seen.

A small path around the hunting lodge leads to a terrace from which you can enjoy a wonderful view over Halberstadt. Completed in April 1782, it houses one of the oldest giant wine barrels in the world in its cellar. Unfortunately, a visit to the wine barrel is currently not possible.

Then continue down some stairs until a path branches off to the left. We follow this past Schwerinsruh (former viewpoint to the Klusberge) to Schwerinsburg. We make a small detour there before following the path back down to the stairs, which we go down behind the Amtsgarten to the Spiegelsberge guesthouse. From there, you can follow the street to the left back to the parking lot.
