So many “wow moments” on such a short route are rarely found in the Harz. Mystical sandstone caves, moss-covered undergrowth, fragrant pines, medieval water wheels and mysterious paths alternate over almost 5 kilometers. In between, new perspectives towards the Regenstein repeatedly open up. A visit to the castle and fortress complex before or after the hike is highly recommended.

Directions
Follow the signposting number 7 on the yellow blossom leaf. The starting point is the Regenstein parking lot Am Platenberg.
The route starts at the Regenstein parking lot. Follow the signs towards Regenstein Mill, past the “Mom and Dad Bench” and slightly downhill through the hollow way. The medieval former granary impresses with its reconstructed huge water wheels. The route continues downhill, following the signs towards the sandstone caves. These refer to the “large” ones of their kind. However, we first lead you to the “small sandstone caves,” which you can already see shimmering through the trees from the path. From here, it goes over soft, springy paths and sandy trails through the wonderfully fragrant pine forest to the “large sandstone caves.” It goes without saying that this place was chosen as the most beautiful stamp point of the “Harzer Wandernadel.” Returning to the parking lot, the steep ascent leads from the main path over the “Green Court,” the former medieval economic courtyard of the Regenstein.
