Directions

From the Kaiserpfalz in Goslar, following the long-distance traffic, the route leads towards Oker to the Osterfeld (festival ground).

At the shooting range house we turn right and follow the road, which becomes a paved forest path at the forest edge. In Oker, before the mineral water manufacturer's plant, the forest path meets the B498. We turn right and ride through the Oker valley to the Oker dam. Upon reaching the dam, we ride over the dam wall and follow the paved shore path around the reservoir. At the third side arm, we turn slightly right into the so-called "Kalbetal." The following climb is very irregular and includes several unpleasant ramps with 10-16% gradient until we reach the B4, where we turn right and face another 10% climb up to Torfhaus. At Torfhaus, we follow the relatively heavily trafficked but wide B4 to Braunlage. Passing through the town center, we follow the long-distance traffic signs towards Bad Lauterberg. After a rapid descent on the B27, we follow the signpost to St. Andreasberg via the Oderberg. Now it goes continuously uphill at up to 10% for about 4 km to St. Andreasberg. Here we turn left onto the main street to lose a significant amount of elevation by the town exit. At an inconspicuous junction, we turn right to Sieber. At an average of 5.4%, we regain the lost elevation on the Sieberberg over about 1 km to then descend through the Sieber valley to Herzberg. In Herzberg, we follow the signs to Osterode. At the roundabout in the center of Osterode, we turn right (first exit) onto the road through Freiheit, a short stretch over the B241, then right at the junction to Lerbach. From Lerbach, there is an average 4% climb over a low traffic, winding road. The last kilometers must be covered on the less pleasant B241 back to Clausthal-Zellerfeld. We ride completely through Clausthal-Zellerfeld and head towards Bockswiese. Following the main road in Bockswiese, we reach Lautenthal. Here we turn right following the signs to Langelsheim to then take the right junction to Wolfhagen a few kilometers later. After a final short 13% ramp over the Schäder, we reach Wolfshagen and then Langelsheim. Here we turn right via Astfeld following the signs to Goslar. From Astfeld, the bike path must be used as we ride parallel to the B82 highway. Upon arrival in Goslar, you reach the parking lot again via the signs "Old Town" / "Kaiserpfalz."

Additional information

Until recently, this route also included the variant via Wildemann and from there through the Spiegeltal to Bockswiese. Unfortunately, the road through the Spiegeltal was dismantled and now has a gravel surface that is not suitable for road bikes.

The paved forest paths can be dirty in spring and autumn due to tree-felling operations!
