From the Thuringian Basin, you ride over the Heilinger Heights to the Hainich National Park.

On the Unstrut cycle path, you pass through beautiful countryside (especially between Nägelstedt and Großvargula). After Herbsleben, you switch to the K2 cycle path via Bad Tennstedt to just before Kirchheilingen and then continue moderately uphill to the Heilinger Heights with beautiful views over the Thuringian Basin. A short section leads down a tank road to Blankenburg. After a brief climb, you can now enjoy the view of Hainleite and Harz before continuing on quiet roads to Ebeleben (castle park worth seeing). The Unstrut-Werra cycle path takes you through Schlotheim and Körner. Soon you reach Niederdorla (geographical center of Germany and peat bog). Then you steadily climb into the Hainich National Park. Above Craula, you reach the highest point of this tour and have views far into the Thuringian Basin and the Thuringian Forest. At the Thiemsburg Forestry House, a visit to the treetop path is recommended before the route only descends to Bad Langensalza.
