The route begins at the former Winkelsmühle pumping station. On the way there, you pass the 40 m deep Kreienborn I well and Kreienborn II. Behind the pumping station, turn left and encounter the 100 m deep Kreienborn III. The water from the three wells is very clean and mineral-rich. Keep going straight; after 600m, on the right side, somewhat hidden among trees and bushes, is the Devil's Well. After crossing the "Wroxenbach", which originates in the nearby Harz mountains and flows into the Schildau here, you come to the "Heidteich". The path then branches left to the "Slag Pond" - the name comes from the smelting that took place in this area. If you follow the path, you will then reach the "Pedel Pond" and the Silberhohl nature reserve. Silberhohl is a 7,000-year-old earth collapse covered with an 11m thick layer of peat. To take a look inside, go right up the hill. To stay on the WaterRoute, go back a bit. At the next turn, keep left and go straight after the Schildaubrücke bridge. Then you come to one of the gauge measuring points where changes in groundwater are checked. A little further on, you reach a spring where you can refresh yourself without worry. Now just turn right once more and you are back at the starting point.
