On quiet paths, you hike through the spruce forests of the Ebersberg. You follow the ridge trail, the watershed between the northern and southern Harz.
This short route with slight ascent is also suitable for families with children.

Directions

From the parking lot at Bechlerstein, follow the symbol of route 1 on the ridge trail of the Ebersberg. With a slight ascent, the path leads up to the Vorderen Ebersberg and then almost level along the ridge. 1 km west of the Vorderen Ebersberg, the Wurzelstieg branches off sharply to the left, leading down to Wolfsbachstraße. This forest road is crossed, and to the right of it, you continue along the Drosselweg, heading towards Heimathütte, back to the parking lot.

Access from B 4, 2 km north of Hohegeiß, turn off towards the parking lot at the sign "Erlebnistage Harz / Heimathütte"

Parking lot at Bechlerstein, follow about 300 m of the narrow paved road branching off the B4

Bus line 470 VSN from Braunlage (various bus lines meet here) to Hohegeiß, stop "Heimathütte", from there a 300 m walk to the starting point.

Arrival by train:

- From the south: via Walkenried station or Bad Sachsa station. There, a direct transfer to bus line 470 towards Braunlage.

- From the north: via Bad Harzburg station; from there bus line 820 KVG. Via Wernigerode station: line 264 HVB. Each to Braunlage central bus station (ZOB), where you transfer to bus line 470 VSN towards Hohegeiß.
