Directions

From the Ilse valley, you first hike a stretch on the Heinrich Heine Trail, the historic path towards Brocken. At a crossroads, before the Heine monument, you cross the Ilse on a bridge and walk to the right - following the blue cross - to the crucifix. Here, a rest area invites you to linger. After a short break, the blue cross leads you along the Dielenweg to the Ecker reservoir. Upon arrival here, do not cross the dam, but follow the hiking sign with the green bar along the shore of the reservoir towards Scharfenstein. There is a small ranger station with snack offerings and great information about the Harz National Park. You should not miss an ascent to the Scharfenstein cliff, as it offers a wonderful view. Now the descent begins over the "Kegelbahn", further through the Ilsetal back to Ilsenburg.

e.g. Between Lisbon and Porto, the infrastructure is not yet well developed. The stages from one accommodation to the next can therefore be long and adventurous.
