The very scenic and diverse route leads through the forests and meadows on the southern edge of the Thuringian Forest.

Moderate mountain-valley route with some longer climbs on gravel roads. It initially passes the Hohnstein castle ruins and then continues uphill to the Hufhaus. From there it goes downhill to the Eisfelder Talmühle and further to Netzkater. Ultimately, it goes through the Fischbach valley towards Ilfeld and returns to Neustadt along the edge of the Harz over meadows. There are several places to stop along the route.
