Directions
We begin our route at the memorial Langenstein Zwieberge.
First, go straight for quite a distance to the edge of the forest of the Thekenberge - 0.5 km - the so-called Quedlinburger Mulde.
Then the path divides into three directions. We take the path to our right. It is well developed and partly covered with sand.
We follow this path until the second time a trail branches off to the left from our path. We follow this upwards.
We then go straight on until a fork of two paths (left and right) branches from the trail. We use neither of these but take a trampling path that leads directly along the edge of a mountain (far right). - See pictures
This leads us directly to the Krähenhüttenfelsen. It is said that this used to be a place of sacrifice. The symbol of a light bearer is still visible in the rock. - See pictures
To enjoy the rock and the view from there, you need to climb up a little. Directly after the bench that invites you to take a break, a climbing route leads up to the rock.
Afterwards, the path continues along the trail. Now you can admire the stone steps embedded in the ground, which lead along the Krähenhüttenfelsen to a resting place. Here you will find a covered shelter. - See pictures
After taking a short break, we reach another fork of 3 path directions. We take the left.
We follow this until we see an old barrier on the left side. - 0.4 km
We pass this and go straight on (over a fork) until we come to another resting place that has not only a shelter but also a table with benches. - 0.5 km
Further, we go on the left path which leads us directly to a fork. If we went straight, our route would already be over. Therefore we take the path on the right upwards.
This is not quite as well developed, but a look at the route shows us how to best reach the Fuchsklippe this way. We pass the Steinkuhlen and then turn left back onto another path.
From afar you can already see the red-orange little house of the stamping point "In the shadow of the witches". You have reached the Fuchsklippe. It is part of the "Sunken Sanctuary". One of the six connecting lines runs directly to the Fuchsklippe. The name could come from the god Forsetti. The Fuchsklippe lies under the zodiac sign Scorpio.
From here there is a short path to the Gläserner Mönch, passing the "Kalte Warten." If you walk over the very old steps, which make no sense in the middle of the forest, find large stones with so-called sacrifice bowls, and cross the ridge to the Gläserner Mönch while enjoying the breathtaking view to the Harz and the Brocken, you can easily imagine that priests lived here. - See pictures
Here also is a special stamping point of the route "In the shadow of the witches."
The Gläserner Mönch is an ancient cult site, as confirmed scientifically by numerous finds such as barrow graves and prehistoric tools.
The extension of this line meets the observatory in the Klusbergen.
Climbing the rock, you can admire the entire Thekenberge on top (left), as well as the Dornsteinfeld with Dornstein and the Winterberg (right).
A steep staircase (with railing) leads us to the former country house.
From there we walk a little distance left on the Saint James Pilgrimage Way, also known as the Way of the Cross.
Then we turn left onto a branching path that takes us straight back to our start at the edge of the forest of the Thekenberge - 1.0 km
The path leads back to our starting point, the parking lot at the memorial Langenstein - Zwieberge.
