The start is at the end of Dietrichstal. From there, the route goes steeply uphill for about 2 km to the Königsteinweg. When the path flattens, the connecting route to the South Harz trail can be used by turning left. Over the Klößbergskopf, it goes gently uphill over the Quitschenkopfsattel to the Hassensteinhütte. After a slight descent, there is another steep ascent of about 300 m. Afterwards, the path continues on flat terrain to Lärchenplatz. There the path forks. The left path runs relatively flat to Jagdkopf. The right path leads steeply uphill to Stöberhai. After taking the right fork at the junction, after about 200 m, you reach a turn that leads to the South Harz trail towards Bad Sachsa and Wieda (total length: 42 km).
