- Start: Stresemannstraße parking lot (“Itschensteg”)
- Destination: Stresemannstraße parking lot (“Itschensteg”)
From the parking lot, follow the signs of the Harzklub hiking trail to the Seweckenwarte (yellow triangle, initially straight ahead), Stresemannstraße, Johanniskirche, Johanniskapelle, Johannishöfer Trift. A short detour to the Johanniskapelle is recommended. At the end of Johannishöfer Trift, cross the Bicklingsbach and turn right onto Gersdorfer Burgweg. Immediately after the underpass, turn left and follow the path to the lookout tower.
The Seweckenwarte is a medieval watchtower that was converted into a lookout tower after the reunification. The ascent is via a spiral staircase made of metal grid steps. At the top, you have a very beautiful panoramic view over the Harz foothills, the Harz mountains, and the town of Quedlinburg. The return route follows the same way, approximately 5 km each way.
