From Bad Harzburg through the Harz National Park

We start our route in the Kurpark and hike via the Philosophenweg to the Radau Waterfall. To our right, on the other side of the valley, lies the mighty Gabbro quarry, known for its mineral diversity. At the Radau Waterfall, there is an idyllic spot for a first rest. We continue past the sulfur spring and through the charming Radautal to another spring, the Basteborn spring. Via the Salzstieg, we finally reach the well-known Torfhaus and have completed half of our route. Here, we can admire the National Park monument on the adjacent square, an artwork made from Harz rocks, visit the National Park Visitor Center Torfhaus, or relax and have a drink. Our view stretches over the surrounding forests and the Brocken – a wonderful panorama! The second major stage leads us over the ski meadow to the ski monument and via the Pioneer Trail to the Eckertal dam. Here again, the landscape spoils us with fantastic views. A short walk onto the dam is worthwhile to marvel at this engineering marvel. The Molkenhaus inn is our next stop: it looks like a quaint little witch's cottage and, situated by a small lake, is the ideal spot for the next break. Via the Old Toboggan Run, we finally return to the Kurpark.
