The Devils Trail takes you through all elevations and landscapes, through bright deciduous forests, dark coniferous forests, and onto eight high Harz summits – with a short detour to the Brocken, it is even nine.

You pass reservoirs that supply northern Germany with drinking water and protect against flooding, cross the Green Belt that cut through the Harz and all of Germany in 1989.

On the Clausthal high plateau, you find fragrant mountain meadows and many stone-lined ditches and historic ponds, in Goslar 1000 years of industrial history (together UNESCO World Heritage Rammelsberg, Goslar old town, and Upper Harz water management).

Along the way, you sometimes meet many, many others – and then suddenly you are all alone again and enjoy the silence of the forests, the wide views, and the freedom on the trail.
