Circular tour in Bad Harzburg

This route starts at Bad Harzburg station and initially leads you away from Ilsenburger Straße over small, sometimes winding streets, slightly uphill to the former Waldhöhe sports field. Here the path turns left directly above the old sports field. For the next few kilometers, you cycle on the Ilsenburger Stieg towards Eckertal. Following the signs to Eckertal, shortly before crossing the Ecker river, turn left onto Blankenburger Straße. You will reach the town center on it. In Eckertal, then cross the state road 501 diagonally right and follow the route into the Schimmerwald. The path now leads you along the state border between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt towards the northwest. After some time, you reach the Schamlah flowing between Bettingerode and Lochtum, which you follow southwest towards Bettingerode. Once there, follow the main road towards Westerode. A bike path is now available to you up to Westerode. In the center of Westerode, turn left onto Vor den Höfen street. Before the following left-right curve, veer diagonally right and leave the street onto the field path ahead, on which you go straight through the fields, climbing the last ascent of this route up to Butterberg. Afterwards, go down the mountain on the other side to Bad Harzburg. At the end of the street, turn right twice and follow Herzog-Julius-Straße back to the station.
