Circular route "Grüntal" (HWN 49)

From the Haus des Gastes, we head towards the school, passing the Wilhelm-Schmidt monument on the right, and continue above the music pavilion to the left past the playground and the garage complex until we turn left onto Zollhäuser Straße and then immediately pass the industrial area on the right.

After crossing the railway tracks, the hike leads us left along the industrial area over the Lehmkuhlen to the Breiten Linie.

Here you go right at the shelter to Grüntaler Straße and then immediately right again to the former Grüntal forest house.

At the forest house, take a sharp right back until we cross the Schieferbach stream, continue to L 97, then right onto the path along the Ruxbach (boundary with old border stones HB/KP) back to the Lehmkuhlen.

We hike left towards the industrial areas back to our start and finish point at Haus des Gastes.

You can reach Benneckenstein by car

- from Wernigerode via the B244, turn-off Elbingerode B27 continuing to turn-off Königshütte B242 and in Tanne onto L98

- from Braunlage via the B242, turn-off Tanne onto L98

- from Nordhausen via the B4 to the L98 turn-off Benneckenstein

You can reach the Harz town of Benneckenstein by bus of the Harzer Verkehrsbetriebe

from the direction of Wernigerode

from the direction of Blankenburg

from the direction of Braunlage

from the direction of Nordhausen

or

by the Harzer Schmalspurbahn narrow-gauge railway from Wernigerode or Nordhausen.
