Directions

The route begins at the tourist information at Schnappelberg. The app leads you down Schnappelberg, either through the green area at Lühnertorplatz or through Herzogstraße and behind the station out of town along Alte Halberstädter Straße.

The actual circular route starts now, since the outward and return routes are almost identical up to this point. At the allotment garden at the edge of Blankenburg, keep right and initially ride along the A36, cross it, and later ride parallel to the railway tracks for several hundred meters. Upon reaching the forest edge, continue comfortably on the concrete tracks ending at the country road towards Börnecke.

Follow this lightly trafficked side road for about 1.5 km to the district of Börnecke in Blankenburg. At the first street intersection in the village, you will see the Börnecke information point on the left, with lots of interesting information about the village, sights, and a surrounding map. You can either continue directly or make a detour to the sulfur spring, an idyllic place for a short rest.

Continue along Bahnhofstraße, and after a few hundred meters you will be back in the rural surroundings of Börnecke with the vast Harz foothills before you. At the end of the small woodland, our personal favorite spot on this route awaits you. A bench invites you to linger with a beautiful view of the silhouette of Regenstein and even the Brocken. A perfect spot to enjoy the sunset.

Continue on the wide path to the junction, where you turn left towards Börnecke station. The small station is a stop on the Blankenburg(Harz) - Halberstadt line.

From here, the ride continues through the fragrant pine forest on an unpaved but well-ridable forest path. At the end of the path, a place to rest awaits you before you cross the A36 and cycle back to the town center on the same route as on the outward journey.
