The circular route takes you over a short ascent from Nordhausen to the Glockensteine with a magnificent view to the south. Shortly thereafter, it follows the Krebsbach uphill to the Neustädter Dam. The descent to Neustadt runs along narrow paths. A short detour to the Hohnstein castle ruins is worthwhile. With a view of the South Harz, you continue to Ilfeld. After crossing the B4, you follow the Beere into the Harz. Behind the forest swimming pool, the path becomes briefly steep and narrow – it is best to push your bike here, as you have to cross the B4 again at the top. The route continues along the Harz narrow-gauge railway, past the Rabensteiner tunnel and the Eisfelder valley mill. A steep road leads to Sophienhof, where a brewery inn and a goat alp invite you to visit. The route then continues to Rothesütte and descends into the valley to Sülzhayn. Afterwards, there is a rest area with a great view of the South Harz. From there, the route continues flat through the South Harz Zechstein belt to the destination in Nordhausen.
