Directions

You start at Goslar Cemetery, which was declared a landscape conservation area in 1966, and head towards the Riechenberg estate. Once there, you circle the Gethsemane Monastery. The crypt of the monastery can be visited during a guided tour in the summer months (Tuesdays at 3 p.m.). The three-aisled hall crypt is one of the most beautiful of its kind in northern Germany, with its rich figurative stone carvings on the columns and capitals. Please keep in mind during your visit that this is a place for reflection and silence. Further along the route, you also circle the Riechenberg estate. The mid-16th-century Riechenberg Agreement, significant for Goslar, was named after it and was made between the city and Duke Heinrich the Younger of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.
