Directions

We speed down a short stretch on the Harz high road heading towards Wippra, turn left and let the bike roll - fingers always on the brake levers! Behind Wippra (Schanze) we turn left into the forest onto a roughly 2 km long rough gravel path, then solid pavement. In total, it's about 5 km with a noticeable approx. 6% incline to the highest point of our tour, about 600 m. At the end of the climb, we turn left onto the country road, which we continue to follow. At Morungen we turn right. At the bridge near Großleinungen, the path leads us towards Hainrode. Here lies an approximately 4 km long downward path with coarse gravel ahead of us. That was quite a challenge. At the end of the path, we are in Questenberg; here we turn right towards Agnesdorf. Now we pedal uphill on a steep stretch. At the Breitungen junction we turn right. At the Uftrungen signpost, we keep right and make a detour to Gasthaus Heimkehle for a well-deserved break.

After refreshing ourselves with a thick strawberry yogurt ice cream, we ride a stretch on the bike path along the federal road towards Stempeda. Before the railway crossing, we then roll right in. In Stempeda, please do not follow the witch signpost, but instead ride towards Ilfeld. Unfortunately, this route is heavily trafficked during rush hour. At an almost dried-up pond, we turn right uphill into the forest. Behind the sawmill, we turn left at the iron bridge. Through Neustadt, the path continues on the new roadside bike path via Harzungen to Niedersachswerfen. In Niedersachswerfen, we turn right at the main intersection onto Harzstraße (bike path). Here we diverge from the route and turn left onto Appenröder Straße.

In Appenrode, we ride towards Martinshof at a bridge and turn left at another small bridge towards Werna. Then it continues to Ellrich and again a right turn; here we follow the route towards the 30 km/h zone (right). Once again, the path leads us past a monastery, the Walkenried Monastery. It was founded in 1127 and since 2010 has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Rammelsberg Mine, Old Town of Goslar and Upper Harz Water Management System". Behind Walkenried, we reach today's stage destination, the spa resort Bad Sachsa.
