description: "Between Wernigerode and Elbingerode, on the B244, is the former iron ore show mine Büchenberg. The show mine is only about 300 meters away from the large free parking area, which is also suitable for coaches. 50m below ground, visitors learn everything about ore mining of the past 20th century. In the preserved original mine all machines are in operation. A very lively guided tour shows the mountain in a variety of colours. Get a real impression on what the working area was like with its beautiful red colours. The mine is suitable and access friendly for wheelchair users. Above ground is a snack bar with a very nice children’s playground."
